This trip combines a stay at two stunning luxury boutique hotels, the first in Amor Arenal a new hotel that has rooms built with natural hardwoods and designed to maximise your view of the rainforest. Enjoy private guided rainforest adventures during the day such as white water rafting and guided hanging bridges walk. In the evening relax in your heated private pool on your deck immersing yourself in the tropical forest sights and sounds.

Then travel over to the Pacific coast to stay at the beautiful and intimate Nantipa hotel in an oceanfront bungalow with views of the beach and a private plunge pool on the terrace. The hotel has a unique beachfront that combines sandy areas with natural rock pools that you can bathe in. Nearby town of Santa Teresa is a short walk from the hotel where you can enjoy local restaurants, take yoga classes or have surf lessons. Optional excursions could include snorkelling, hiking in national parks or visiting waterfalls.

Day to Day

Below is an example day by day itinerary

Day 1

Met on arrival at San Jose International Airport and transferred to Xandari Resort and Spa to relax for the night (20 mins journey). This hotel has a beautiful location with views over the Central Valley and is just 20 minutes drive from the airport. There are three pools including a sunset pool which has a hot tub and is a great place tor relax in the evening enjoying the views and watching the fireflies. Overnight Xandari.

Day 2

Transferred in an air-conditioned vehicle to stay at the stunning Amor Arenal hotel. Journey time approx. 2 hours. Relax in your hot tub on your private deck overlook the rainforest and Arenal Volcano. This gorgeous hotel has several hidden spring fed pools and a farm to table dining in the restaurant. A perfect relaxing option to unwind after your day excursions. Overnight Amor Arenal (B).

Day 3

Enjoy a 3km guided walking tour of the rainforest with hanging bridges enabling you to get a level with the wildlife and birdlife in the trees. Your guide will help you spot many species and you may see sloths, iguanas, motmots, toucans and maybe a snake. Overnight Amor Arenal (B).

Day 4

Enjoy a private guided tour to the Cano Negro Wildlife Refuge which is close to the border with Nicaragua. A boat tour for 3 hours will enable you to see a variety of species including two and three toed sloths, spider, howler and white faced capuchin monkeys, iguanas and caimans. There are also many resident and migratory species of birds in this area, including the endangered Jabiru, the largest bird in Central America. Overnight Amor Arenal (BL).

Day 5

Raft the rapids on the Rio Balsa, enjoy the scenery and maybe spot a sloth or two as you go white water rafting down this scenic river just 30 mins drive from your hotel. Overnight Amor Arenal (BL).

Day 6

Private transfer in an air-conditioned vehicle to Nantipa Hotel. Journey approx. 6 hours. Santa Teresa is a surf town on the tip of the Nicoya Peninsula, the town has a cool vibe with excellent yoga studios, world class surf and a number of restaurants. Nantipa is a new, luxury beachfront boutique hotel with just a handful of rooms. Rooms offer a luxury space with floor to ceiling glass windows with views to the ocean and have king beds, indoor/outdoor shower, large decks and private pool.

Day 7

Day at leisure, optional activities could include surf lessons, surfing or body surfing the waves, yoga classes, snorkelling at Tortuga island, hiking in nearby reserves, visiting waterfalls. Overnight Nantipa (B).
